I love it when people ask shit like “Which world would you rather live in? - Unable to eat properly, your health and physical well-being suffers significantly and this shortens your life over time. If you’re like me and have weak jaws, you’ll likely not be able to chew well; you’re going to be swallowing lumps of things, which is uncomfortable, gross, and unhealthy.
-Eating can be very painful, to the point you’re going to be eating soup, mashed potatoes, or cream of wheat for at least a few meals.
-Self-confidence tanks, and so can your mental health; this has really f*cked me up, leaving me intensely depressed to the point where I’ve pretty much cried for entire days, not to mention trying to adjust to this nightmare that has become my life.
- Dentures generally need to be pasted into your mouth (the paste doesn’t usually last that well, and isn’t a fix-all. It also tastes pretty foul.) and tend to cause anything from mild discomfort to bad pain.
- You don’t get to eat anything sticky, chewy, etc.; no more toffee, gum, unprocessed meat, salad (yes, even things like lettuce and spinach are VERY difficult to eat. And, forget fresh fruit and veggies. Too firm,
- No biting with your front teeth.
- There is no real ‘resting place’ for your lower jaw - it’s uncomfortable and even painful to have your gums pressed together, and letting your lower jaw relax and ‘hang’ is almost as bad.
- Have you heard someone speak without teeth? You’re liable to repeat things A LOT and feel self-conscious and stupid.
-People will shun you, or give you repulsed looks.
-Try looking for work when you look like I do, all gums and no teeth. No way you’re getting an interview or a call back.
Not to mention that your JAWS SHRINK and make it even more difficult to eat/speak and are prone to FRACTURING.
That’s why I am on my knees, begging and praying for the donations I so desperately need to replace my teeth with implants.
Implants act like REAL TEETH and I could eat/speak as before and my jaws would stop shrinking. But, I live in poverty and am disabled. I can’t afford it alone. I’m scared this is going to be the end of me.
Not to be that gal but Winona (you know which one) has been someone who has been constantly vilified by Hollywood int he past 1 and a half decade to see her rise in limelight again with Stranger Things is like exhilarating after everything but also I wanna point out the fact that before all these leaks and all Winona very openly spoke about people like Johnny Depp being abusive assholes and Mel Gibson being an anti Semitic and homophobic bastard so like, half of the people who are now writing reports on Hollywood abuse scandals made fun of her claims or belittled her before

Like, she she literally and explicitly did not commit treason. Not only did she not commit any treasonous acts, she was specifically acquitted of any accusations of treason during her trial.

Republicans think that treason means “Not just blindly letting criminal corruption continue to harm innocent people because you’ve been brainwashed by the right wing propaganda machine”
As opposed to, as a for instance “Colluding with a hostile fascist foreign power to intefere in democratic elections that your country is holding to try and rig the outcome in your favour” which according to Republicans totally ISN’T treason

In January it’s going to be four years since I wrote this post, if I were to write it today I wouldn’t take the same approach. I stand by the ultimate point of this post, which is that the idea that showing a certain amount of skin causes men to sexually harass and rape with out being able to control themselves is untrue, and encouraging that idea harms everyone.
I sincerely apologise to all women and girls who have been harassed or abused by other girls, I put the changing room comparison because women are expected not to harass other girls even if they are attracted to them, but that’s not always the case.
I’m truly sorry for excluding victims of sexual assault in a conversation in which they should be at the forefront.
We stumbled into a reckoning.
It had been a regular staff meeting — standard announcements, small talk, and project updates— until we began discussing the results of the 2016 presidential election. My fellow white coworkers and I bemoaned the state of the nation. What went wrong? How did we get here? And why didn’t we see it coming?
After many long minutes of shock from a chorus of white voices, a colleague of color chimed in.
“We did see it coming,” she said. “We saw it coming in our work. We saw it coming in our country. We told you. You just didn’t listen.”
There was a long silence. I felt my stomach collapse in on itself, the telltale sign I was hearing a terrible truth about myself. She was right.
“Black women don’t get to be surprised. We don’t get to be exhausted or ‘woe is me’ or any of it. We’ve been here a long time. So, I guess, welcome, but what took you so long?”
